a winter poem

Hi,
I mentioned to you quite a while back that I had written a poem but was quite shy to share. Inspired by the snow we received today and a note from a friend, I'm showing it to you now. I hope you're having nice weekends,

Waiting

A flurry of house sparrows pulse
outside our kitchen window.
The weaving of branches breathes them in and out.
Out to the feeder,
back to the thick threads.
One junco stays
on the wrist of the ground.
Brown mouse appears from a rock door.

{A miracle they say,
She meets a new breath today.}

The pair of cardinals reminds me,
it is light beyond the shade of a mountain.

a few things }

} fold.1 & fold. 2 : I began photographing my stack of watercolor paper towels. And while photographing I remembered certain color palettes and shapes I have used and recognized that each paper is a layered record from a specific time in my work. For instance, I can tell you the top one is from an artsy party hosted by a certain artsy friend last July. Yes, I believe fold is a new side project I just created for myself.

} Polly Apfelbaum : I really like the "skin and bones" detail looking at the layers of color at the end of the tube.

} insideout : a beautiful new book by maditi.

} On Monday, we begin a little something new over at the Noticing Project. Drop by and see how you can be part of it.

Happy Friday friends!

} I'm really into vases right now and Diana Fayt just listed some new ones in her shop. Here's my favorite.

Today I'll be working in the studio and have just begun a linoleum cut which I will incorporate into some mixed media pieces for an upcoming show. I also hope to add a couple more art cards to the shop.

It's drizzling here today and I don't really mind because it makes it smell like spring.

See you soon,
