Noticing Project

Marking the days

December December. How did you arrive so soon? The last month of the year begins with anticipation for a glorious season, with new shows and and projects coming to an end, and the realization that another year is folding yet again into a new one. How does it happen?

First of all I want to share another glimpse of two of my pieces {above} that will be part of Incredible Print Show 2 at Artstream Studios, opening this Saturday. The top image shows the painting before I printed the woodgrain layer in silver ink.  I like the texture of the stick as I found it naturally on the ground contrasted with the clean lines of the wood board imprinted on top.  They are: "Found: ash and cedar" and "Found: elm and cedar", handmade watercolor and ink on paper, 9 in. x 9 in.  I'm happy to be part of this exhibition and look forward to seeing the work of the other artists. All the work will be available online at the time of the show opening, so stop on by for some of your holiday shopping and support handmade.

For Alicia and I, December marks the final month of our Noticing Project collaboration. We began here in January 2008 and have been pairing our photos daily for two years. It's really hard to believe as I look back on the first days and remember so clearly taking those photos as if it were five minutes ago. I've really loved working with Alicia and we have been constantly surprised at the synchronicities in our diptychs.  I'm proud of us, if I may say that, that we have made it a dedicated project, marking moments from each day with an image, noting the thing that catches our eye or our thoughts. We hope you will share in our final noticings as we draw this project to a close.

Check out the Artist Advent Calendar Stephanie is hosting all this month!

} It's March which means spring is around the bend!
} Emily is hosting green week and I'll be joining in. It's fun to look for something throughout the day and I imagine I will want to make a green arrangement.
} Jen is having a pre-spring sale!
} Check out the new ban.do site.
} My one year shop anniversary happens later this month! It's hard to believe it's already been that long! I need to think of something special to do, hmmm...

} Alicia and I just announced our little something new over at the Noticing Project. Won't you join us this month? And oh, guess what, you'll be automatically entered into a little drawing. Find out how you can be part of it.

Thank you for reading my poem the other day, I appreciate it!

Happy new month and week to you,

soaring

another from yesterday

spring has bitten me ever so sweetly with it's tempting yellows and birds soaring across blue skies. it has me dreaming of warm soft breezes, kites flying, lilac blossoms and green, green grass.

but not quite yet. so we will wait, patiently?

however it is the weekend, enjoy...

good morning

Good morning!

How are you today? My week has been quite busy and by the number of unread feeds I have in my bloglines I can tell you've been busy too! I hope to visit you tonight, I don't like missing how you are and what you're doing. :)

I would like to tell you how sweet this lady and her family are [but you already know]. They posted a little suprise that really just made my heart sing. Thank you A.
The photo above is another view of our pair yesterday. I am captivated by all the shadowy fluff and willowy lines in her image. I look forward to our project every single day because Alicia is just the best to work with. She really, really is.

You know the sunny, warm photo of Jen's from our September Inspired? She has another "stack up" photo just listed in her shop.

Did I forget to mention that Tuesday we posted a new echoes collection?

In each collaboration I feel so fortunate to work alongside beautifully talented artists and catch glimpses of what they are seeing. I'm learning more about the act of "seeing" and more about these ladies. And I love that. Thank you Alicia, Rachel, Emily, and Jen.

I was going to tell you about the other project I worked on that I hinted about. For now, here is a link, and here, to explain [since I have blabbed way more than I thought]. There's a stellar line-up of artists involved so I hope you'll go see! [Perhaps next week I'll give you a bigger peek at my part in it.]

One last thing, I will be adding a few pieces to the shop this evening around 6pm. cst.

Thank you for reading all this! I'll 'see' you soon.

7/11

Good morning friends,

It's Friday! Yay!

Last night I attended a painting party with some really talented women. Aimee the hostess supplied gessoed wood panels, brushes, & paint and we sat around tables talking and painting. It was fun meeting and visiting with these women; the rest of whom I wish I had links to share with you. Thank you Aimee for inviting me!

This weekend my husband and I are celebrating our six year wedding anniversary. We plan to take a little day trip to visit some art museums.

Next week Alicia and I will be taking the week off from the Noticing Project and will resume normal noticing the following week. Thank you for your continued support over there! We invite you to visit the echoes journal site and or join the growing group. It is fun to see what others are making every day. We're thrilled others are getting involved and exploring creative outlets!

What are you doing this weekend?
