7/11

Good morning friends,

It's Friday! Yay!

Last night I attended a painting party with some really talented women. Aimee the hostess supplied gessoed wood panels, brushes, & paint and we sat around tables talking and painting. It was fun meeting and visiting with these women; the rest of whom I wish I had links to share with you. Thank you Aimee for inviting me!

This weekend my husband and I are celebrating our six year wedding anniversary. We plan to take a little day trip to visit some art museums.

Next week Alicia and I will be taking the week off from the Noticing Project and will resume normal noticing the following week. Thank you for your continued support over there! We invite you to visit the echoes journal site and or join the growing group. It is fun to see what others are making every day. We're thrilled others are getting involved and exploring creative outlets!

What are you doing this weekend?
H

a question for you

What did you have for breakfast this morning?
You're welcome to share here or here.

Thank you for the cheers about the Poppytalk post yesterday and to those of you who left a kind comment over there, please know you touched my heart and made me smile. And thanks for your thoughts about the artists links community. Some of you have emailed me already [yay!] and I'm happy to hear from more of you. So send your links!

Have a lovely day,
H

inspiration & community

[some photos I've taken recently of things that are inspiring me : "growing upward", pinholes on paper}

Good morning,

How are you today? I hope you're well.
I want to run something by you. I've been thinking about the artist links community I have in the sidebar. I'd like to add to the listings page and then here on the the main page rotate a featured person with their name and image in the sidebar.
Will you let me know what you think? Or if you'd like to be added please email me your name, shop or site link and an jpeg image 75 x 75 pixels. You do not have to have a shop.
[Reciprocation is appreciated by not required, and there is no money involved. Please know I will screen submissions for quality and content, but I'm pretty nice so not to worry.]

I will be poking more holes today. What are you working on today?

ps. My work is featured on POPPYTALK today! Yay! Thanks Jan!

light through the trees

[from emily]

Good morning friends,

I had a surprise in my P.O. box yesterday from wonderful Emily. She sent me a print she took of light shining through the trees, a lovely letterpress card with her handwritten words, and some rainbow yellow, crepe paper tape. Thank you Em!

Thank you for your comments and thoughts about our new collaboration, echoes.
Thank you too for your kind words about my new work in the shop. You keep me going!

Inspiring things seen via others' finds :
+ this clip in the NYT of Paul Fusco, photographer who was documenting a momentous event in 1968, seen at Design for Mankind.
+ the beautiful space of Shanna Murray, posted on Poppytalk today.
+ these paper plants by artist Yuko Yamamoto seen at ah-yi.

My thoughts feel far off this morning, perhaps that means it will be a creative day in the studio. I think I will poke some holes.

I hope your day is creative and filled with light,
H

+update- when I first published this one of my links didn't show, I think it's fixed now.

echoes

good morning to you,

The first thing I want to share with you is the birth of a new project called echoes : a collaborative journal, with Alicia, Emily, and Rachel. Yay! These ladies are the driving force and gusto behind it all, I'm along for the ride, because you know I love a good project and love making things!

For the months of July and August each of us will be making a mixed media piece that reflects something from our day. And then we'll post them together on the echoes journal site. In this way we will nurture camaraderie in sharing thoughts from our daily lives in visual and written format in a kind of online sketchbook.

We invite you to participate and join the echoes journal flickr group. We'd love for you to be part of our little community. So get out your pencils, papers, scissors, crayons, paints, thoughts, words, stamps, snippets, you name it, and put it all together. You can do it, and you know you'd like to. And we hope you will!

Speaking of community, I have begun a new limited series of original watercolor paintings for the shop called "neighborhood". The "neighborhood" series features drawings of houses and buildings incorporated into the paintings, inspired by homes around my neighborhood. I'm quite happy with this series.
I also have added the very last of the sunprint series.

The new Poppytalk Handmade Market, "Home Sweet Home" just opened this morning! I'm excited to be part of this great group.

Did you see our newest pieces for the Inspired collaboration?

Whew! That's all for now. Thanks for listening! Have a great Monday friends!
