[recent four leaf clover findings, kept pressed in sketchbooks.]

This morning while weeding I found 4 (found the 4th after the photo), four leaf clovers in an, ahem, rather tall clover patch. Little treasures such as these are fun to discover.

Listening to The Bean Trees on audiobook while I work, checked out from the library.

Reading Mrs. Dalloway, interest piqued when Tara mentioned she's reading it.

Loved this post of Shari's; organic tips for pest control in the garden.

Discovered GOOP via Erin.

That's enough.  Happy weekend!

From the inspiration bin

It's amazing what you come across when you go through and (try to) make sense of everything you own isn't it? These are a few paintings, drawings, sketches, tracings, clippings, cutouts, etc. I have made or used in past work. I keep them all in a big bin and sift through from time to time and pick out what is inspiring or catches my eye. These are today's choices, as I take a little break from my massive studio organization. I can almost see the floor now.

Now I need a chocolate break.  Who's got the chocolate?

Sunday

This morning I awoke with such a feeling of happiness and thankfulness; happiness that it is summer, that it is Sunday morning, that we're working on our house (although it's an unbelievably messy job ripping out walls and scooping up two foot piles of old insulation). I'm hoping summer won't speed by but take it's sweet time.

My new favorite way to eat our garden strawberries is with plain yogurt, drizzle of honey and granola crumbles on top.

Bye!

garden notes

[spiderwebs in this morning light :
the one above is tiny, about 3 in. wide; the one below is about 2 ft. wide]

Yesterday morning I worked for several hours weeding in the garden, and enjoyed popping a sun warmed strawberry in my mouth from time to time. While weeding I spotted a baby gartner snake cureld under some leaves and it darted it's tongue at me before sliding away.  M. picked our first sugar snaps last night. This morning I plan to finally get a few more seedlings in the ground, thai basil, pesto basil and a little trio basil.

Did you hear this story about Emily Dickinson?  In addition to the article, I also like her white cotton gardening dress, seen in the last image of the slideshow.

And Shari's garden posts are always a fave.

Tomorrow begins demo time around here. Our dumpster was dropped off at 7am this morning.  Woohoo!

Have a nice long weekend!

Summer, here we go

[some recent film shots : our daisies; homemade biscuits enjoyed by the kitchen window; farm eggs we buy from a friend. Yesterday I made some egg salad for lunch with a side of our salad greens. Yum.]

This week begins my summer vacation and I'm looking out at the days ahead like a big open picnic blanket, anticipating good things. I'm still in my frenzy of a cleansing spree since we're preparing to do a major house reno. We're moving everything out, except for the kitchen. By this weekend we may be ready to get a dumpster and start tearing out walls. Sounds like good times eh? So our temporary living space is the downstairs of my studio building and happily it's setting up pretty well. Maybe I'll share a few photos when we get it arranged.

Summer is about big projects right? Wait, you say it's about relaxing? Oh my, here we go...
