little bits

Good morning,

It's a new week! It's sunny here, crisp, and I'm so happy to see blue skies again. Last night we were expecting our first freezing temperatures so we harvested some peppers and lettuce and covered things as well. I also picked a bunch of flowers expecting to find them all bitten this morning.

} There's still time to apply for Second Storie! It's not too late to email those photos and dash the application in the mail!
} It's a week of polaroids over here.
} Tomorrow will be our last collection at echoes.
} I added three new sequin hearts to the shop this morning.

Now I'm up to the studio to work on my next letterpress card. What's on your early week agenda?

Thanks for stopping by today,
H

ps. Is anyone else having trouble uploading photos to blogger? They're uploading in a funny size and I'm having to resize the code.

Good morning,

It's still dark this morning here as I type and the clouds are hanging low. It is getting light later and dark early and this change always makes me cozy in. I guess I've been resting a little this week, drinking lots of hot chocolate, stitching a few more hearts and sending them off [cheer & thank you!], and I really don't know where the whole week went. Do you?

I just picked up the November issue of Gourmet and hope to dive into their vegetarian Thanksgiving feature some more this weekend. Parsnips, artichokes, and cranberries, oh my!

have a good one,

Good afternoon,

The shop is updated with new letterpress work, hand-sewn sequin hearts, and a new mixed media piece. It's been so much fun putting together these initial holiday items. I'm planning a few more hearts and letterpress cards. Do you see the two blue starburst shapes in my drawing in the bottom image? I just began working on a new card using that type and already really like it.

Whew. I'm a wee bit tuckered. I think perhaps I'll make some hot chocolate, and I don't know, maybe go sit down. Wish I could sit in that cozy living room. Care to join me for chocolate? :)

hearts for charity

[parts and process of making hearts]

Good morning to you,

Did the weekend pass quickly or what? Yesterday was warm and sunny and it felt so nice to be outside. On Saturday we made a big batch of chili soup using lots of our peppers and tomatoes, yummy. And of course we had to make some chocolate chip cookies! Cookies are a staple around here.

I mentioned last week that I will be adding new items to the shop that are a little out of my norm. For a number of years, in the autumn and winter, I enjoy hand-stitching sequin hearts. I know I am inspired by my grandmother who always made embroidered ornaments for us.

I would like to do something a little special with these hearts as well. So between Oct. 21 - Dec. 15 when someone purchases a heart through my shop, 40% of the profits will be donated to Habitat for Humanity Int'l.
I think it does the heart good.

Tomorrow I'll share the letterpress work I'm preparing for the update.

Have a beautiful Monday!

Good morning,

It was sunny here yesterday which really and truly made me happy. I walked up on campus and it was nice and quiet since it's fall break for the students. And I wished I had my camera with me for Shari's week of paths, yet I did not because I was up there for different purposes. But it was beautiful standing on top of the hill and looking down upon the town and country.

Saturday I hope to go to the farmer's market and get some more apples! I don't want to run out. What are you hoping to do this weekend? I hope it's a glorious weekend for you. I'll be back on Monday to show you what I'll be adding to the shop on Tuesday.

:) H
