birds eye view
[bird's eye view collage by Rick Beerhorst]
Good morning,
Guess what. It's Friday. Again. Every single Friday I wonder how this happens. How it gets here so quickly. Why is that? Are we busier? Or is time going faster because we don't want it to? Hmmm.
It's raining here this morning. We needed a little rain, the ground was beginning to get big cracks in it.
I slept horribly last night. I don't know why you need to know that. It's just something I'm thinking about as I look at my full day of teaching kiddos. It will hit me after lunch I'm afraid. Do you get a sleepy slump in the day?
Ok, what I really want to show you are the woodblock prints I ordered from artist Rick Beerhorst. I've been aware of him for several years as he and I share a gallery together. Recently however I came upon his etsy shop. In addition to woodblock prints, he makes some beautiful paintings, reminiscent of early american art / icon paintings. His work makes me want to take a jab at woodblock printing. I wonder how that would work? I think it would be different.
Ok, I need to go refill my coffee cup. Today calls for two cups of coffee.
Melissa B., if you're reading this, [well even if you're not] I'm thinking about you today.
Have a great weekend!

studio joy
Hi to you,
A while back I mentioned I wanted to do some kind of online sketchbook on my website. Then right after that, echoes was born from the minds of Rachel & Emily, fulfilling our desire to make something every day. Thanks ladies! So the studio journal is a collection of images from the day, working in the studio.
Yesterday my studio was featured on Poppytalk as part of the PHM Studio Spaces series! Yay! I was thrilled to see the hard work that my husband has done to build the studio shared there. Thanks so much Jan, it means alot to me!
If you can't stick your toes in the sand today, go check out Rachel's new 'home and away' series of photos in her shop to get a taste of the beach. And even if you can, go check them out anyway.
Do you have any news you'd like to share today?
Thank you for being you,
H
finding
Good morning,
Since I got my plane tickets yesterday to go visit my family at the beach, I remembered some photos I took on our last visit. This week Shari has been posting some of her photos rescued from her trash folder. These two above are what I found in my 'trash' or 'recycling bin'.
I'm antsy to finish this new pinhole piece. It will be the largest pinhole piece or work on paper that I've offered in the shop thus far. I hope to list it today. It's the first piece of a new series that I've been brewing in my mind; a series of pinhole works inspired by leaves of different kinds. I like the way this one feels almost weightless in the space.
I want to say thank you for all your comments yesterday and of late. I wish I could make a peach cobbler to share with all of you! Wouldn't that be fun?
sending you a smile,
H
*update - That new pinhole piece that I was antsy to finish is now completed and listed in the shop. whew.
peachy morning?

[little peaches from our tree : I ate some on my cereal this morning : small but sweet]
Morning sunshine,
This morning began in a cranky way for me. Not bad, just cranky. I cleaned up FOUR cat messes around the house. hairballs & the like. fun. oh well. I love those kitties despite the extras.
But now I have mental lists of things to accomplish. One of which is I'd like to begin a new pinhole series, larger than the 5x5's I've been doing.
And I need to get some plane tickets, finally. I always have a mental block with getting those. Perhaps because I don't particularly enjoy flying. Do you?
Do you have something you'd like to accomplish today?
H
*update - plane tickets |check mark|!
