petals and lovely things

Good morning,

How are you today? It's beautiful here today, sunny and clear, and I hear the wrens chattering away outside.

A few lovely things from yesterday :
+ a ceramic vase covered in love letters written in braille, seen at Design for Mankind. [Erin and her great finds!]
+ Camilla's illustration of dogs at a doggy hotel while their owners are away on vacation.
+ Congrats to Jan/Poppytalk who was a guest blogger yesterday at sfgirlybybay! Thank you Jan for including my work in your post on affordable art.
+ If you haven't seen our diptych from yesterday's Noticing Project, please do because Alicia's image is mesmerizing! It's spot on.

And lastly I had a nice visit yesterday morning in my studio with a friend of mine and her two year old son. She and I sipped coffee and talked about our ideas for the summer while he played with the watercolor paints. Two year old attention spans are quite shorter than three year olds, aren't they? It was fun[ny].

I hope your Tuesday is filled with petals of goodness,
H

sunday afternoon bread making

Good Monday morning to you,
Yesterday afternoon I felt like making bread. I usually do this in the fall and winter but for some reason, maybe the cooler temps that rolled through yesterday, I wanted to make bread. I used a french bread recipe from this cookbook, given to us by my husband's aunt some years ago. It is one I use quite a bit.

The bread turned out very tasty so we had a simple dinner last night with salad greens from our garden.

I have a few other bread books I use often too. Do you have a favorite?

I hope you have a nice start to your week friends,
H

golden yarrow

I didn't feel like resisting these yarrow at the farmer's market this morning. Usually I collect flowers from our garden but this is a kind we don't have. What is your favorite market flower?

I really must get to the housecleaning now. I've put it off long enough.

Have a great weekend,
Heather

ps. I look forward to visiting you this weekend and thank you to all of you who commented on yesterday's post.

a field of white pinhole flowers

...or at least that's what I imagine.
I'm adding this piece this morning to the shop. It's number FOUR in the series of TEN new pinhole pieces I'm making this summer inspired by antique and vintage wallpapers.

Yesterday I worked on little details with my packaging. Like where I place my letterpress tags and there's a new surprise message stamped on the bag, that you see when you open it up. That makes me happy.

Something else that makes me happy is this feature that Melissa did on my work and additional artists today as part of the Melissa Loves series at Creature Comforts. I just read it and wow. She is truly kind, sincere, and lovely. Thank you Melissa and Ez! I really really am grateful!

one more thing...
It seems a number of people have been having computer woes this week, electricity outages, and not to mention high temps, flooding and even house/apt. fires. If this is you I'm sorry and hope your situations improve soon. I'm thinking about you.

It's friday! What are you doing this weekend?

more beets please

Good morning,

Last night we did some more work in the garden, I weeded and Matt planted our tomato and pepper plants in the ground. We harvested a few beets, kohlrabi, and cauliflower and Matt sauteed them with some tofu for dinner. Quite tasty.

Have you signed up yet for the giant giveaway going on at Creature Comforts celebrating their one year birthday? Check out the contributors gallery to see what's in the giveaway package.
Oh, and their may be a little interview over there tomorrow with me. [smile]

I added two new pieces from the sunprint paintings series to the shop last night. I'm really enjoying this body of work. Tomorrow morning I think I'll add one more pinhole piece.

have a nice thursday friends,
