Inspired : June

Good evening,

I always feel honored to share Jen's Inspired pieces with you. Jen is so good at holding us in a moment, isn't she? Her work makes me feel quiet, contemplative, and resolved but with a sense of wonder.
She's sharing my June Inspired piece tonight as well. I hope you'll go see...

did you have nice moments in your day?

here comes the sun

two new series : original watercolor with sunprints & a series of pinhole pieces inspired by antique wallpaper patterns.

Good Monday morning to you,

Did you have a good weekend? I hope some of you did a little baking, I didn't and am really wanting a good peanut butter cookie.

It seems like it's been really busy here doing art related things, but this week I'm looking forward to lots of time making work in the studio! First I want to share a little bit about what I just updated in the shop.
You will see the first few pieces of two new series :
1] a series of paintings with sunprints, inspired by summer. I really like the way the strength in the blue print contrasts some of the delicacy in the painted and drawn areas.
2] a limited series of only ten pinhole pieces referencing antique wallpaper patterns.

In addition I'm also excited to be part of Here Comes the Sun, the new Poppytalk Handmade market that just opened this morning! Once again there is a great collection of inspiring artists!

Happy Birthday Shari!

till tonight when Jen & I [plan to] share our first Inspired pieces for June,

tofu & email bugs

[more noticing from yesterday : i think these signs are kind of funny : "beef, it's what's for dinner". Kansas also grows alot of soybeans,,, what do you think of one that says "tofu, it's what's for dinner." ??]

Good Saturday morning,

Thank you for all the kind things you said about my new work I shared with you yesterday. I'm excited for the shop update, and am planning to spare things down a bit, and streamline the work. That's my hope & vision anyway.

I wasn't expecting to post again until Monday but I wanted to let you know that my website and web email seem to be down, so if you have emailed me at contact[at]heathersmithjones.com since Thursday I have not gotten it. I am sorry. I don't know what the problem is and cannot access my sitehost company to report. Perhaps they're doing some kind of changeover. Who knows. Please use this email address in the future: hrsmith74 [at] hotmail. com. Thank you! Behind the scenes I have been in the beginning stages of building a new website, yippee!

Hannah's show was great and it was so fun to walk around with Alicia last night! I had a few pieces of my new work up as well at Byron Cohen, in their inventory gallery. That was nice too.

have a great weekend,
H

hello sunshine

[new series of original paintings/drawings with sunprints]

Good Friday morning,

It was such a relief to wake up this morning to a sunny and calm sky. All day yesterday the clouds were in a hurried whirl. Thankfully, we missed most of the bad stuff. I hope you in the midwest were spared as well!

Above is a sneak peek of some of the brand new work I'll be putting in the shop Monday for my update. This is a limited series of original paintings with sunprints collaged with the drawing and paint media. I really am enjoying the blue, it feels so fresh to me right now and indicative of summer. It has been fun too making the sunprints and trying different objects and printing my own drawings.

These works along with the pinhole series [which will only have TEN pieces in all] will be added through June and July.

Today is my first day back teaching for the summer and will be teaching on Fridays in June/July.
Tonight we go into Kansas City for First Fridays and will meet up with Alicia and her family to go see Hannah's show at the fabulous Habitat.

I hope you have a sunny day and weekend!
