watercolor paper towels : detail of a new pinhole piece that is part of a new limited series, to be launched in early June.

Good morning,

Wow, I feel like I'm getting a late start this morning. oh well. I'm on vacation. sortof.

On the right above is a sneak peek of a new summer series of pinhole pieces for the shop. This is a detail image of the first piece. I've made several so far and I'm still deciding if I want to make it a series of ten or twenty. They are inspired by sections of vintage wallpaper and are the same size as the "flowers and facets" series, paper size 5 in. x 5 in. I like making these and they are more detailed than the previous pinhole pieces I've had in the shop. I hope you'll like them.

I hope to have more sneak peeks early next week, of the other [two] series. If you're up for it, I may need your help on one of them, as you are my virtual critique group. [smile]

have a great Friday,
H

ps. if you were wondering, i closed the comments for yesterday's post. i don't want you to ever feel obligated to comment here. but i always love it of course when you do!

my watercolor paper towel from working on my response to Jen's May Inspired piece : more drawings of foxes

Good morning,

Thank you everyone for all your comments on yesterday's post about the fox sightings you've had! Aren't they beautiful creatures? I did some more drawings of them yesterday and am even more intrigued with them. The paper towel above is from working on my response to Jen's May Inspired piece. I imagine she and I will be sharing that with you within the next few days!

I'm feeling antsy to work on some larger drawings. This wall sized piece by Kiki Smith is soooo intriguing to me right now. The wheels are churning in my head.

And yet I enjoy making the new work I'm doing for the shop. I will run 2-3 limited series original drawings for the summer. One of them will be a series of pinhole pieces. Perhaps I'll give a sneak peek tomorrow, but the series will be launched in early June, I'm still picking a date. But I'm really liking them and they feel fresh to me.

Also I am sure I have everyone one of you to thank for the fact that this morning I reached the 100'th sale in the shop! I never would have imagined it would have happened this soon [at least I feel so] and YOU each with your gracious support have helped with that! I too think it is a God thing. I am very thankful.

I think it will be sunny today, I'm hoping it is for all of us!

Good morning!

I would like to say thank you to Alicia for your sweet post yesterday! And thank you Marichelle for your lovely post yesterday on Heart Handmade!

Last night I sat down and started drawing something that's been in my mind for over a month now. Foxes.

A month or so ago while walking to work a fox ran across my path as I passed by the courthouse. My jaw dropped. I don't think I'd really seen a fox that close before and certainly not in town. I learned there's a family living in a garage nearby and last night I found out this mother fox and her pups are living only six blocks down from us on our street! I would like to see them again.

When I saw that fox I felt lonely for it. Like it was looking for something. Then I read foxes do well in urban environments. That put me at ease.

I'm noticing that this summer studio time gives me alot. of. time. to. think. what a feeling.

anything on your mind today?
H

ps. If anyone is interested in one of the small fox drawings let me know, I'll put it in the shop for you.

so I bought this tote...

Good morning!
Did you enjoy cookouts this weekend? I hope you had a good time with family and friends.

So I bought this tote on sale for two bucks [it's organic cotton] and it has something printed on the other side. But I think I'd like to paint over it and paint all sides, in & out. This bag is my inspiration, and reminds me of Chagall for some reason. But then I wonder if I'd like to do something simpler, more pattern oriented, stamped perhaps, which I also like. I really should have just bought two bags. This is just one side project I have for myself this summer. I'm still working on my entire list of studio projects to keep me on track. What are your projects for the summer?

I think I'm going to go walk now and see how things look after last night's rain,
