happy long weekend friends!

my new alicia apron : matt and jack at lunch

happy saturday to you!

Alicia stopped by this morning with her family [on their way to go camping] and dropped off the apron I ordered from her shop. I will be wearing this daily as I paint in the studio and draw outside this summer. It's so nice, thank you Alicia!

What are your plans for the long weekend? Grilling, going to the lake or beach, gardening, cleaning out the garage?? [scratch that last one] I think we'll work in the garden some, there's a rabbit chomping off our cauliflower leaves and we need to keep him/them out somehow. I think too perhaps I should make some strawberry shortcake with some of our garden strawberries that are ripening, with fresh whipping cream. yum oh yum.

Did you see the interview with Jennifer Judd-Mcgee at Stephanie Levy's blog? It's another good one!

I hear the ice cream truck going down our street right now,,, summer.

let me know what you're up to this weekend, won't you?

beginnings and finishings

beginning a little painting : figuring out mats for an upcoming show

Good evening friends,

Why do I feel like it's been ages since I last posted and it was only day before yesterday?? Yesterday was my last day of teaching for the school year and today was the first day of my summer break and within all of that I don't even know what has happened. Do you ever feel that way?
Anyway, I feel I'm starting to come out of my little pigpen fog and am getting really exciting for my 'summer long studio residency', let's call it. The projects are lining up in my mind and I look forward to sharing them with you. I'm so happy you stop by to listen!

I'm happy you are here, I really appreciate you ALL, my friends.

Pieces seventeen and eighteen of the "flowers and facets" series are in the shop now.

till soon,

flowers and facets

Good evening all,

The "flowers and facets" series I have been working on this month is nearing completion!
It is a limited series of only TWENTY original, one-of-a-kind pieces using graphite, watercolor, iridescent acrylic, colored pencil, and some pinholes. Pictured above are numbers fifteen through eighteen. I will be addidng them to the shop, one or two at a time over the next few days beginning tonight. I really like these four above and hope you will too! I am holding onto one of the pieces from the series, "remembering a glimmer", I just keep going back to it.

As of today my shop has been open two months and I have a few things on sale to mark the occasion.

Did you see Alicia's shop update? Today she added some artist totes and tomorrow some aprons! My favorite tote already sold!

Thanks for listening to all my shop talk! now, let's talk ice cream...it's snack time here.

till tomorrow,
H

a taste of summer

Good morning,
The weather here this weekend was truly a taste of summer, sunny and warm. What was it like where you are? Yesterday I worked in the yard, mowed [with our little old-timey, person powered mower, non-gas, non-electric] and did a little weeding. We made a salad last night from our salad mix we planted and I think we'll have the first taste of a ripe strawberry this week!

Emily asked me when my summer vacation begins; officially at 3:30 pm. this Wednesday! I will be teaching on Fridays in June/July but the rest of the days will be studio days. This will be my first summer in the new studio and I'm so excited for that! so excited!

I made some new 'spring foliage' pinhole cards this weekend, inspired by all that is growing around us.

I hope you have a beautiful Monday & I'll see you soon,
Heather

i heart spring

droplets of light pouring onto my studio floor wednesday morning : spirea : "you fit here", graphite, watercolor, iridescent acrylic, pinholes, on paper, 4 in. x 6 in.

Good morning,
Do you know how wonderful you are? I hope you do. You encourage me and I am thankful for you. Thank you for all your cheers about the apartment therapy feature. !!!

This morning I woke up and first heard birds singing and felt thankful for spring. It's a wonderful feeling to be optimistic for the day ahead. I hope this for you.

Have you seen Stephanie Levy's new Friday series of interviews with artists who blog? Last week she interviewed Kelly Lynn Jones and this week is Diana Fayt. Go check it out!

I put in some brand new art into the shop yesterday including a set of pinhole cards in pastel colors, "you fit here" [pictured above] and it's sister piece "hold on".

[I feel like there was something else I was going to tell you, hmmm, perhaps I'll think of it later or sooner.]

I hope your weekend is dappled with goodness!
Heather
