Inspired : April

Good evening friends,
I'm so happy to share with you Jen's lovely image above; the first April piece for Inspired. Inhale, exhale; I can smell the sea air and feel the warm sun, can't you? I'm feeling my response may involve a little pinhole... hmmm... I hope you can check her blog for my first piece for April.

I want to thank Ez {Heather/Creature Comforts} for writing a lovely piece about my work yesterday; thank you!!

Tomorrow I send my work off to LA and I may share an image from the roll of film I just got back.

enjoying open windows,
Heather

there's just too much good stuff...

        looking around in my studio

...to wait to post until later!

I'm excited for these lovely ladies:
*Rachel is having a grand reopening of her shop today at 11 am! Hooray for you Rach!
*Kerry {also a K.C. artist} was featured in an interview yesterday on decor8 and it is such an interesting piece; she has quite an interesting story.
*And Amy was featured on design for mankind; she makes lovely pillows.

Ok, I'll probably be back later!

Hooray for all these talented ladies and more...
till soon,
Heather

ps. I just put in a couple new flower pieces; one pinhole & one watercolor. I think I got the spring bug.

sunday afternoon polaroid : two new petite pinhole pieces in the shop, "branch and flower" & "forsythia"

Good Sunday evening to you all,

Do you ever encounter something, a new goal perhaps, and think "I could use an accountability partner for this. To help me through it." Do you? I have something I want to work on this week: my attitude. All last week I was feeling grumpy and discouraged, partly because the week was so busy and I was just r-u-n-n-i-n-g the entire time; only today did I kind of slow down. So I'm telling you {be/c I know a couple of you who will check me on this} in case I get cranky you can tell me to 'just stop it'.

I like to have things to look forward to and this week I look forward to sharing these with you:
* Jen and I will show the April pieces for Inspired
* The children I teach are having their annual art show in the gallery this week, I'll snap some pics to show you.
* Sending my work off to the LA Show.
* maybe some images from a roll of film I'm about to finish, if any of them turn out!

*And something I'm thankful for today is the encouragement from friends, that always come at a much needed time.

I have to think that this is going to be a good week. It just has to be. Don't you think?

Let's hope together,
Heather

Squeak {y}

Yesterday I went in to Kansas City and to Byron Cohen Gallery to pick up my pinhole pieces for the KC in LA show. I was reminded of how I used to really {and still do} admire the work of Squeak Carnwath, whose paintings, prints & tapestries they show. I started looking at her paintings while I was in grad school and something about them seemed to click with me. I think the way she tells bits of stories and is thinking about truth and memory. I believe those are interests/concerns of mine in my new work. stories. truth. memory. pondering. making connections.

it's Friday,
Heather

rain today & wondering where's the rainbow?

{Do you ever have one of those days where it's just not what you had planned? not what you had in mind when the day began? does it ever make you a little cranky? argh. oh well. I'm moving on now.}

I mentioned yesterday I would share with you some of the images on my studio wall that I find inspiring. Featured here at the top is a bold, black & white print my sister made when she was in high school. I love this piece and would like to make some fabric inspired by her design. Also on the wall are images by Hannah, Jen, Rachel and Maria, all gifts, because they are so kind.

a couple new things : there you were with an umbrella & stickin' together.

thanks for sharing my work break with me,
Heather
