making bread today

Good {late} morning friends,

It is really cold here today, so I decided it was the perfect time to warm the house with smells of fresh bread. I was inspired too by my dad's bread making.

It seems a lot of activity happens outside of kitchen windows. I looked out and saw the image for today's Noticing Project picture. My fingers nearly froze watching the smoke from the chimney and the bird that landed there.

Yesterday I worked in the studio and prepared some paper for upcoming drawings. My mind is whirling with ideas right now and I need to just let each have its own time.

I liked Hannah's pictures on her blog yesterday of summertime at the beach in New Zealand. Warms me to think about it.
Also did you see Alicia's picture diptych yesterday? I always appreciate her sharp eye.

I think I'll go check the dough. Be warm today!

new year and a new project

Happy first day of the new year to you!

I want to share with you a new project I'm starting called the Noticing Project. It is about noticing and observing, {an image a day in 2008}. I introduced the first photo yesterday, a day early. There is a set at flickr and I am dedicating my drawing on the walls blog to this project for the year.

Are you looking forward to and beginning new ideas, projects, or aspirations?

I hope your day is full of light and happiness!

reflections and aspirations

Good last day of 2007 to you friends and family,

Are you reflecting on this past year as I am? You may have events you are thankful for and ones you are ready to close. I'm making a mental list of those and of my aspirations for the coming year. A new year starts fresh, full of hope doesn't it? I'm not making resolutions exactly because I usually end up disappointing myself. Instead I'm thinking of them as goals and hopes, with room to change as necessary. Life is always a work in progress, right?

I appreciate so much your words yesterday about what you are thankful for; you each had thought provoking comments to share. I am thankful for each of you, your kindness, creativity, and the way you share with others on your own blogs. I look forward to knowing you more in the year to come.

I wish you all peace, joy and love throughout the entire year.

I hope your last day of 2007 ends with a bang!

good bread

I am thankful for this loaf of cinnamon bread my Dad made and sent back with us. We are enjoying every cinnamon-y bite.

What are you thankful for today? Sometimes it's the little things that make a day sweet, isn't it? I hope yours is.

I don't think we're in South Carolina anymore...

Hello friends!
We are back from visiting family for Christmas. It was 25 degrees here last night when we returned. In South Carolina yesterday morning it was 70 degrees when we left! We had a great time with my family and I have a lot of pictures to upload.

Our three kitties were happy to see us and now Jack is snuggled in my lap. I'm cleaning today {how does the house get dirty when we're not even here?!} I'm about to get out the vacuum & the mop. I also have some blog reading to catch up on; my feeds are full. I was hoping to return to some mail but the postal deliverer didn't resume delivery, so I'll have to wait until Monday. {sad face here.}

How are you doing? Are you mentally preparing for the close of one year and start of another? I'm just beginning to think about that. I'm starting to think about my goals and aspirations I suppose. What are you looking forward to in the new year? Hmmm, things to ponder...

Back to work for me!

Take care,
Heather
