seeing some early american inspiration...

One of my favorite exhibits at The Art Institute of Chicago was the early American Art. I took many picutres in this exhibit, here's one for now.

photos:
1} ceramics {I'm enjoying the patterns, writing, and simplicity.}
2} detail of my pinhole piece "leaf and it's pattern", now available at artstream.
3} walking michigan avenue in chicago thursday evening on the way to the museum, bustling with the anticipation of seeing some art and "filling my art tank" {as a friend of mine once said}.
4} a decorative {sunflower} manhole cover on my block here in kansas.

I will be thinking of these things today as I work on the leaves of my wallpaper pinhole project. I hope you feel inspired today!

hellos & thank yous

Hello!

Well I'm back from my trip to Chicago; it was a fast three days yet I feel I was gone for a week! I've been trying to catch up this weekend on laundry, errands, light reading, rest and goings on. This week one of the things I'll share with you are little tidbits from the trip, including photos of some of the great art I saw.

I appreciate all the wonderful, thoughtful comments you dear readers left about my new wallpaper pinhole project while I was away! It means alot to me! {I pinholed another leaf Saturday; progress one hole at a time, one leaf at a time}

Thank you Maria for your post last Thursday. I'm so happy you're pleased!

Susan has uploaded some new work from the "Mapping the Way" show to the Artstream online shop, including some of my pinhole pieces. Go check it out. Thank you Susan! Also, go check out Susan's most recent art uploaded to her etsy shop. This one is my favorite.

I hope you all enjoyed your weekends and are ready to say hello to Monday!

till soon...
Heather

more leaves pinholed tuesday

Hello friends and family,
I pinholed a couple more leaves tuesday on my PINHOLE WALLPAPER PROJECT. I'm enjoying every little bit of it. I said before I've been dreaming of this project for a long time and now it's beginning! I'm happy to share it with you!

I'm going to Chicago Wednesday morning for a couple days. I'll be back here to post {hopefully with some photos!} Saturday or Monday. I made an extra post below, just for fun.
I wish you all a wonderful rest of your week!

Take care,
H

The wind shook the big tree

Hello to you.
It was very windy here yesterday.
I brought out this old reader; I really like antique children's books, don't you? They sometimes inspire ideas in my drawings. My husband's parents are avid collectors of antiques and gave me this one several years ago.
They also recently gave me another antique that I've wanted to show you for a couple weeks. Maybe I can photograph it today to share but I know today will be busy as tomorrow morning I leave bright {actually it won't be light yet} and early for the airport to go to Chicago.
