We traveled to visit my family on the east coast over Christmas. Our time there was nice and low key. We did many of the things we normally do during those visits, including walking on the beach, working a jigsaw puzzle together, eating Dad's yummy cinnamon rolls for breakfast and Mom's Christmas dinner, playing a few hands of UNO, and simply being together. Being stress free for a few days is pretty great too.
A few days after we returned we got a lovely snow, thick and white. The ground is now a patchwork of sodden snow and mud. I like bundling up and walking in the winter, making myself get out there. The air is fresh and I like the way my cheeks remain cold for a while after stepping back inside. For some reason it makes me think of hot chocolate. Although I do wish there were such a thing as a nose warmer.
