Inside the studio

Hope you don't mind if I show just a few shots of the letterpress corner of my studio. While the organizing process is still underway, the space is greatly improved. Hopefully soon I'll have some actual letterpress work to show you!

Interview in Review Magazine

Early last week, Sean Rosner a freelance writer here in Lawrence contacted me about doing an interview. Then we chatted (well, I blabbed) on the phone for a while about Water Paper Paint, the exhibition, and my creative process. So thank you Sean for turning my run-on sentences into a descriptive article at Review Magazine. And thank you Tracy Abeln, editor at Review Publishing. I really appreciate it!

Today

The dark and blowing blizzard that swept through the mid-west yesterday has left glittering drifts of white. The house sparrows, cardinals, juncos, doves, robins, and blue jays are chirping and flitting so we're keeping the bird feeder stocked. Our street is socked in and I have heard only one car trying to get out today. People are slowly emerging from their homes to shovel pathways. It is pretty cold but I do hope to venture on a little walk this afternoon, but it may be too much to take the camera along. In all this I am thankful our power has remained. And while I'm growing weary of stomping my boots at the back door and taking them on and off all the time, when the sun shines on fresh snow it is rather enchanting.

Lately

Lately I have been:
laying low
working on new ideas
drinking lots of lemon tea
wearing my down vest often and snow boots daily
baking oatmeal bread and another batch of peanut butter cookies
making pancakes for dinner when I'm tired
mushroom risotto, baked lemon tofu, and spinach salad last night
falling asleep by 9:30 at the latest (perhaps I'm in hibernation mode)

This week:
My goal is organize the letterpress area of my studio. And if we get snowed in with the 10-14 inches of snow the NWS is predicting for tomorrow then that task sounds pretty good.
