letterpress impressions

There's something about wintertime that makes me want to work at the letterpress. I like standing and cranking the big drum back and forth while the wind blows outside. So yesterday I dusted it off a bit and began working by making some business cards. Then I tested some of our vintage and antique Christmas types on paper. I'm still hoping to actually get Christmas cards made this year! Also over the weekend I bought some modeling clay and have been experimenting making tiny ornaments by using our letterpress types to make impressions. I painted them with white acrylic and added linen twine. Simple simple.

Newness and IPS 3 Opening tonight at Artstream

I took this photo a few weeks ago at Rachel's place. I was so mesmerized by the banner she made, it's really even nicer in person. She has four gorgeous prints (including one of my all time favorites) in the Incredible Print Show 3 opening tonight with the Newness show at Artstream. Yay Rach!
Susan and her team (at Artstream) have done an amazing job, they always do, at arranging the gallery and placing the work. And the way they dressed the windows for winter simply sparkles! I smile looking at this photo of Lisa's work and mine together and here's my wall of oil paintings. If you want to see more photos of the show visit the Newness photo set. Plus all the work is available for purchase in their online shop.

Tuesday in the studio

Today I've been working mostly on the computer. From here, when I turn my head to the left, this is what my studio looked like late this afternoon with the sun slinking in. After sitting for so long I bundled up for a walk before the sun faded. It was refreshing to feel my cheeks cool against the wind. One biker passed me wearing goggles! Guess that keeps eyes from watering. But now I'm glad we made a big batch of chili last night, reheating that for tonight sounds just right.

I sent out my December newsletter, which has info about upcoming shows, a book signing and a shop update.

Check it out!
