Friday highlights

Thought I'd post a few film shots from my last roll of film with images that go back to the warm days of summer and early autumn. I hope to get a roll back in the mail tomorrow that I just finished. I'm anxious to see it especially because it has photos from my granddaddy's funeral.

Right now I'm listening to Stephanie's great interview on Escape from Illustration Island. Her Tennessee accent reminds me of where I grew up.

Two events on opposite ends of the states that I wish I could attend this weekend are the Little Winter Market and the NY Art Book Fair. Don't they both look fabulous?

And I just want to say thank you for your comments on my last two posts, I really appreciate each one of you.

This weekend I want to eat breakfast at Wheatfields as a belated birthday treat. :)

Hope you have a nice weekend,
H

It's here!

Look what was delivered to my doorstop today... an advance copy of my book Water Paper Paint! I don't know if you can tell in the photo, but the cover is a textured paper that feels like a cold press watercolor paper. I like that detail.

I'll be sharing peeks inside soon, right now I'm supposed to be painting... :)

Sorry I've been absent from here. Last week my sweet granddaddy passed away and I've been traveling for the past five days to be with family and attend the services. I'm so glad I was able to go. Right now I'm a little tired and hope to pop back up here in a few days.

See you soon,
H

a photo walk

A photo walk through a regular day : the morning glories in our yard, going by a church listening to the bells chime, past the fountain in the park, then returning home after work and weaving through the neighborhoods. I like being able to walk to work, to have that bit of time to think and be outside. Then sometimes we end the day with an evening stroll.

The days are passing as quickly as the leaves are falling, don't you find? I wish it were possible to preserve this leaf just like this, bright yellow with the little red speckles. That's what cameras are for I suppose.

This weekend I'm looking forward to seeing my friend Kristin's work during her open studio, part of the Lawrence Art Walk. There is also a Ceramics Symposium going on at The Lawrence Arts Center, which I'm sure will be amazing for those who attend.

Have you seen the beautiful blog and work of textile artist KAREN BARBÉ?

Tonight, I think I'll make some lentil soup for supper and bake some fresh bread.
Have a nice weekend,
H
