Inspired : September 09

............................

Good morning Friday,

How are you? I woke up late today because it's so grey here and decided my coffee needed some frothy, mmmm to help perk me up. I'm looking forward to the long weekend and will take the opportunity to do some major printing. I am so excited because I feel like I haven't made work in forever, although I know that's not entirely true, it just feels that way. I also want to make some bread and enjoy my bread bag we made. We're so glad to hear from those of you who have received your C&S orders and are happy with them. yay!

The image above is Jen's beautiful photograph to kick off our September Inspired collaboration. I will make a response this month. As always when she sends me her image, my ideas begin to spin with possibilities.

That's all from me for now. I need more coffee, this cup is too small.

Happy long weekend!

............................

Hey,

It's been one of those weeks where I feel like I just have to get through it. That isn't the best feeling to me because I feel like I am just trudging through and not really living. But I have noticed two things that really make a day special for me. One, getting out for a long walk and walking a different path. Two nights ago we walked along where they are working on the "rails to trails" project, and are amid removing railroad tracks. I noticed some interesting plants and it felt so good to be outside and appreciate s p a c e. The second thing I have realized, on days when I am not picking up my camera {or not able to} I really miss it. Taking pictures allows me to stop, and simply focus on something other than what I am doing. Or alternatively, look at some piece of goings on as particularly special. Taking pictures allows me to breathe. Does that make sense? Do you feel similarly?

This morning I am taking my time a little and actually finishing my cup of coffee before rushing out the door. {And now I'm letting my big orange cat sit on my lap, getting me all furry.} Also I came upon the geometric collages & paintings of Matthew Rich. I like this one & this one.

I hope your week is going well. Oh, I want to mention we have written a little post over at Cup & Saucer.

See ya,
H

Tuesday

Simplicity is in order for today. One photo + One link. Perhaps you have seen this video by artist Jon Kyle, which he describes as "a collection of thoughts, mostly about home." It is really powerful.

Thank you for your comments here & at flickr yesterday about our Inspired duo. :)

Have a terrific Tuesday ok?

Inspired : August 09

So. Summer really is ending soon, isn't it? I say soon because technically it hasn't left us, but since I begin teaching again today, it sort of is.

I love this image Jen sent me last night for our Inspired collaboration, in response to my August piece. I always am so intrigued with how she interprets the information from my drawings, and what she uses to compose a photograph. I feel it closes summer nicely, with fondness for beach vacations and long stretches of daylight and many hours enjoyed outdoors. In a few days she will make the initial piece for September too.

And I guess I am trying to prepare myself for autumn with a blog background of watercolor leaves, did you notice? Yet I will officially declare summer's end when our last garden tomato has ripened and fallen from the vine and when the evenings are too cool for the okra and finally when there are no more crickets humming at night with the cicadas.

The weather yesterday was gorgeous so I did spend some time in the garden writing a letter, listening to crickets, examining giant grasshoppers, and catching sight of a black snake. I took some pictures which I'll share soon.

Here's to a great week for you all,

Thursday

Hi,

I woke up this morning late and in a hurried panic. Do you ever do that? And then I was utterly confused for some reason. It didn't help that the neighbor's dog had been yelping to be let in all morning and I had been having long dreams about laundry and furry cats. I guess not a good mix. But then I remedied the situation with hot french press coffee and a chocolate chip cookie. I finally got around to making some cookies last night. We had been out of them for waaaayyy too long.

Hey thanks everyone for all your great support of Cup & Saucer. We love your comments at our blog! Also we had a great first day in our shop, and can hardly believe there are only a couple bread bags left!

I promised a few links didn't I? Well I have decided this one has enough for today; it is pretty much blowing my mind. It is like opening a giant box of treasure. but does it float

Have a good day,
H
