Hi,Yesterday, inspired by this, I looked at my stack of art cards and wondered what they would look like together on the wall. Some need a little work to complete and there are a couple I am keeping, but it made me realize I should do something with them. Even so, I like seeing how these tiny art pieces make make a kind of "quilt" pieced together. I suppose I could have an art-card-special-sale kind of thing? What do you think?
Lately, I have really missed making my own paint, so yesterday I also spent time grinding some new watercolor paints by hand. You really cannot beat the intense color, color that I've not found in any tube or pan. And this way I can make them as transparent or opaque as I like.
Tonight I really need to make a gigantic batch of tomato sauce to freeze, we have a gazillion tomatoes.
That's about all that is going on here right now. I hope you have a great day,
Hps. Just found this. It looks like a quilt of doors to me.
Monday
Hi,I made Rachel's tomato zucchini tart last night and let me tell you, it is delicious! I added a little basil in addition to thyme but otherwise I followed her recipe as best I could. I have filed it into my recipe folder because it is that yummy.

bits and pieces
Hi,Today I thought I'd show you the antique copper stencils that I recently mentioned. They belonged to my grandmother and I have enjoyed using them in the shell series as they make such precise, delicate lines. I imagine they could have been crafted by a jeweler, hand cut with a tiny saw. When I first took a metals class in college, who knows how many of those paper-thin blades I broke!
Jen has posted my August Inspired piece. Can you tell I was thinking about the tints & whites found in seashells and their textures created from tumbling in sand and water? I wonder what direction her response will go? Of course, I can't wait to see.
Honestly I cannot believe it is already Friday. The week has been quite busy and in the midst of it I have also been tidying up my Etsy shop. I have decided my Etsy will carry small works on paper, original art cards, photography and letterpress goods while by Gallery Store features larger series or collections, pinhole work and framed pieces. It feels nice to have a space that showcases the various ways I love to work.

What are you doing this weekend? I want to try tomato & zucchini tart recipe, as our garden is overflowing with zucchinis, squash, and tomatoes! A wonderful thing about summer, no?Have a great one,
Hps. Thank you to Barbara for emailing me with her Fine Art Friday post today and to Benz for her post at her beautiful space. Thank you ladies!
UPPERCASE 2
Hi,Yesterday I was excited when my copy of UPPERCASE Issue 2 arrived as I thought it had gotten stuck in the mail someplace! Have you seen this publication before? It is really interesting and each page is full of design, collections, how-to pages, artist profiles, projects, ideas and information that I look forward to diving in to. Julie & Kathryn wrote a really lovely article about me for the Blog Beautiful piece {yay!} and I am quite impressed and humbled by their writing. Thank you ladies so much! Did you see they are guest posting at Creature Comforts?
Also, Jen and I are revisiting our Inspired collaboration and she posted my response to her July piece. For August I will be making the first piece and we hope to share that in the next couple days.
I don't know about you, but life is full this last month of summer. And that's a good thing.
till soon,

today
Today I'm taking a tiny break today and doing things like folding laundry, catching up, being content with the last slice of bread for my pb&j sandwich, and thinking about blur. No sooner had I taken this shot of the sun beaming on our zinnias than Christy {who is so good at finding inspiring bits} sent me a link to this video. I told her it's the perfect thing for today.Thank you for your fabulous response yesterday to my Gallery Store Opening. You are awesome! {Speaking of videos, I made one for you yesterday to thank you for all your kindness, but it's way blurry, and when I tried to upload a bigger version, it wouldn't work. :( }
I hope you're having sucha perfect day,
H
