JOT

Good morning all!

I feel like the last few days have been a frenzy in some ways but for the most part it's been a good kind of frenzy. Last night and this morning I just listed these jotters in my shop which I designed using my letterpress test prints as covers. The inside contains 16 pages of acid-free cotton fiber paper. Each jotter is hand cut, stitched using linen thread, features rounded corners, and a coordinating vintage button closure with elastic cord. Also comes with a blind embossed letterpress "JOT" tag which can be used as a bookmark. These were a lot of fun to make and I've been so pleased at the response so far. Thank you for all your kind words and enthusiasm!

I hope you have a great weekend. I really hope to work in the garden, weather permitting!

Oh, you may see me over here today. :)

jotter ideas

Howdy,

How are you today? I'm taking a little break to show you something I am working on. Sometimes after I finish a body of work {like I did for my shop update yesterday}, I feel like I don't know what to do next. And then I have to "make a new beginning" as my mom says. While I usually find that to be a difficult hurdle to jump, yesterday, I began experimenting with some new ideas I'd had for making small jotters.

I am using my letterpress proofs, trying different papers, different threads for binding, and various closure methods. I think I'm now landing on what I like best and am even considering running a small edition {like a dozen or two} of these tiny blank books. That way I can use better paper for the covers than my proofs. What do you think?

And what are you working on today?

garden parties, friends, and wildflower watercolors

Good morning, er I mean, afternoon to you,

So Friday night we decided we'd have a little garden party Saturday to celebrate M.'s birthday. That meant a frenzied yard and studio tidy up and food prep. I'm glad our friends are flexible and can fly by the seat of their pants like us. We had a nice little evening and I think we ate ok. ;)

Look at the sweet chocolate walnut banana bread Rach brought {all neatly wrapped}. It's so delicious. I had to just get a piece after sitting here looking at this photo.

And this morning I worked on getting my new works on paper into the shop and uploaded to the new Poppytalk Handmade Market which just opened today as well. Here's a link to my table. The Poppytalk markets are so well put together and I think Paper Pops has to be my favorite! I'm going to spend a little time perusing the goods because I'd like to do a post on some of my favorites.
Lastly, I owe a big thank you to Amy for the feature today on Pikaland!

Now I think I will work on an item on my joy list, working in the garden. Really it's an excuse to be outside in the sun.

Have a great Monday,
H

Good morning to you,

This morning it is raining again and I am really thankful we picked up more coffee beans from the grocery last night. It's barely light yet out and I would not want to be caffeine-less.

I thought I would share a few of my recent flickr faves, that have a dreamy feel or allusions to grand and other places.

What are you up to this weekend? Tomorrow I will be making cupcakes because someone around here is having his birthday. Emily sent me her recipe since I've never had much luck with yellow cake, and that was the request from the birthday guy. I'm looking forward to trying it. The recipe calls for buttermilk; which is something I never buy. I figure it will be a good excuse to also make some biscuits.

I'll be back either a bit this weekend to share some more peeks of new work for the shop or on Monday when my shop update is complete. Have a dreamy weekend! And Happy Mother's day to you moms!
