apples

Hi!

How was your weekend? Was it good? Did you get to relax any or cook up anything special? I went to the farmer's market Saturday morning and brought back lots of apples. And this morning I made an apple coffee cake from macintosh & idared varieties using a combination of two of my grandmother's recipes.

} I enjoyed reading this interview with Stephanie at Shari's blog today.
} The new Studio Violet blog is already inspiring me.
} My entry in the do not leave unattended project; a traveling artists' journal. [you can click image to enlarge]
} Thank you Jan for including my pinhole work on the cover of this week's Poppytalk Newsletter!

I better go, I have a sink full of dishes to wash.
Have a nice Monday!

PEER buzz

{photo from walking around town yesterday afternoon. I know, this image has nothing to do with the post. But I like pictures.}

Good morning,

It's Friday! And I'm excited to see the word about PEER spreading! Yesterday it was featured on Modish, Poppytalk, and today on Real Simple! Yay Renee!
Renee has a flickr set here where you can get a peek at the artists' images and if you like, mine is here. They all look so great! There's even a flickr group where people can share their finished colored pages! How fun is that?!

I hope you have a sunny weekend!,

a recipe

Good morning,

Cool autumn mornings call for homemade granola, don't you think? Here's a recipe I devised once when I was looking through all my cookbooks for one and not finding just what I wanted, based on the few ingredients we had at the time. And I have to say, this is the only breakfast that really sticks with me during busy mornings!

dry ingredients -
4 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup walnuts
1/2 cup sliced almonds
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
7 T. milled flax seed
1 tsp. cinnamon
2-3 T. brown sugar

wet ingredients -
1 tsp. vanilla
3 T. oil
1/4 cup honey
4 T. water

Mix together the dry ingredients & mix together the wet ingredients. Then pour the wet into the dry & stir. Spread evenly on a baking sheet. Cook 20 - 25 minutes in a 350 degree oven. Stir once during baking. This recipe makes 6 cups of granola. Add dry/fresh fruit to your servings.

What's your favorite granola recipe? Perhaps we could swap :)

Thank you Alicia, Ez/Creature Comforts, and Suzanne/S.HOPtalk for posting about my new prints. It is really sweet of you, supersweet actually, of you to do so!!

Perhaps I found some words today after all,

new stuff

Hi friends,

How are you today?

I started a new drawing yesterday which is like I imagined last week, when it wouldn't come out right. I realized, it just needed to be bigger. I can't wait to work on it more today!

The word about PEER is buzzing around. Did you know they are ready to ship out beginning Oct. 1?!

Guess what? I added a couple autumn inspired photographic prints to my shop this morning! [It's kind of a new thing for me.]

It's Tuesday so there's a new collection at echoes.

Ok, back to drawing for me! Thank you so much for dropping by. It's always so nice to 'see' you!
