finding inspiration

[looking down, out my north studio window, bark pathway & berries]

I'm so inspired by the patterns and colors of these fabrics & interiors and the papers in this flip book. [both seen recently at poppytalk] They are giving me ideas for new pinhole work.

Thank you for all your helpful thoughts and encouragement about my art card subscription venture. The sweet secret friend with the idea, revealed & her Friday 'loves'.

I hope you have a glimmering weekend,

Inspired : August

Hi again,

Two posts in one day is not usual for me but I want to show you Jen's piece for Inspired. I really like the delicacy of the lines, don't you? Here's mine for August.

I'm looking forward to Jen's interview tomorrow at Stephanie's blog.

My fingerprint at tiny red as part of Thereza's fingerprint experiment.

My Cosmos piece on Apartment Therapy last week as part of Poppytalk Handmade Market.

My mind is a flurry of activity [can you tell?] and today I'm loving water colors.

my, my, my,,, oh well.
Thanks for stopping by again,
H

on my mind

"boxes of beginnings", 2.5 in. x 3.5 in., graphite, watercolor, iridescent gold ink, letterpress blind embossing, on paper.

Good day to you,
I have something on my mind today as I'm working, and I'd like to run it by you. It's an idea that I've been thinking about. It is the idea of a sweet friend [who, if she gives me the o.k., I'll share her identity].

A while back she suggested I offer an original art card subscription in my shop. Someone could purchase a subscription for a certain amount of time [I will start with three months] and each month they would receive an original art card in the post. I would want to send out the first installments in mid-September and probably will offer only about ten slots to begin with. What do you think? I'd love to know your thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc.

I love making these small pieces of art so I am kind of excited about this. Thank you for listening! Alright, back to work for me.

I hope you moms out there are doing ok after sending your kids off to school today. :)

Later Jen and I will share our Inspired pieces for August.

listening...

...to the ocean...

something i love about being at the beach is simply listening to the constant sound of the waves moving onto the shore.

this morning i opened the windows because it's nice and unusually cool here today in kansas and thought about the ocean sounds. there's no sound like that around us now but i did enjoy the birds singing busily, the undertone of crickets, the distant barking dog, and the faint sound of a utility vehicle. and i was waiting for the train horn.

what sounds are out your window?

have a nice day,
H

ps. well, i was going to share some news bits with you but i'll wait... just ocean for now. :)

[Inspired : 6 | Heather : Jen]

Hi everyone! How are you?!!
We returned this morning from our vacation at the beach and a wonderful visit with my family. Today I've been cleaning and doing laundry galore. This week I'll share a few photos from the beach. I honestly didn't take too many, as I was simply enjoying being there.

Tonight I want to share with you our July duo for Inspired with Jen's response. Isn't it gorgeous?! I really love the density, texture, and I can't escape the sense that the stone is the weight in a memory. What's your impression?
She posted our July duo here with my response to her piece.
If you'd like to see the entire series thus far, click here.

Tomorrow I hope to start updating the shop with new work, reminiscent of this piece.

till soon!
